Eating Crow Halloween Tablescape
My cute friend Penny just came back from Spain and brought me this beautiful Orange tablecloth and so I knew it would be perfect to use for an Elegant Halloween Dinner..including roasted crow under glass! (Insert Wicked laugh here)

I brought out my grandma's elegant colorful crystal stemware from Germany that I inherited from her. They are amazingly gorgeous. Remember when I used them for Easter Here I love that they are so versatile!

Here are the "boot"- iful orange colored napkin rings that I love to use!
The little black stones I had...and just used a paint pen to write little spooky messages on them for my guests.

Notice I used my little white porcelain balls with black lettering on them for placecards. I also used them in a black and white tablescape with a touch of Pink HERE

I love this big white pitcher...this time I added some black ribbon to make it look like big stripes going around it.
I did this for the fourth of July with Red can see it HERE

On top of the black and white toile plates I placed another larger amber colored goblet to use for the dessert...
"Death by chocolate Mousse"!

Dinner party by the lake

For the centerpicece of the evening I used a stand up paddle board placed on an iron base to use as a  buffet table. I layered the table with with a collecton of table cloths and fabrics for a Bohemian look. For the main centerpiece I used a wooden crate with a wooden bucket filled with sunflowers and vines cut from my yard.

We played "Speed Friendshipping" where we had the women face each other and they were given a question to talk about for 1 minute and then they move to the next person and the next person until we went through the whole line. At the end we asked them to look the last person straight in the eye without talking for one minute and let their souls speak to one another and it was very powerful..some women started to weep and others just hugged one another. It was really such a special evening that couldn't have gone any better.

As the sun started to set...the lights bgan to glow and it was magical! My cute hubby took buckets and filled them with rocks and sand and we took poles and stuck them in the buckets that had hooks on them to hold strings of lights. I used ping pong balls and cut a hole in them and attached them to Christmas lights and it made them look amazing!

Talk like a pirate day party in the backyard
My daughter and son-in-law had such a fun Pirate party in their backyard with friends and neighbors.
I made a pirate boat out of a watermelon that I found on Pinterest
watermelon pirate ship, Talk like a pirate day party, pirate party, Halloween pirate party

We created a fun photo booth by hanging a black sheet off of a small pergala in their backyard and it looked great with the vines hanging down.

We had fun taking silly pirate photos with the grandkids.

To make the pirate boat you cut a long length off the top of the melon, then use a melon baller to make small balls of watermelon and use a Ice cream scoop to create large balls of watermelon. Scrape out all the rest of the melon so it is pretty clean (kind of like scraping out a pumpkin) then cut 4 small round holes on each side to represent where the cannon balls would shoot out.

How to make Pirate ship out of a watermelon

Cut rectangle pieces out of the top piece you cut off to create sails. Scrape the melon part off so that they can bend easier. Skewer each piece onto wooden skewers to make them look like they are in the wind. Fill the carved out melon with all the balled watermelon pieces and add other fruit as desired. I used blueberries to add contrast and even put a few of the larger blueberries into the holes so it looked like cannons :) For the front sail scrape the shape of skull and bones into the skin of the melon. I ended up using my fingernail LOL it worked the best. I drew the shapes with a pencil and then scraped around the eyes so it looked like skull.

Everyone brought treats to person brought caramel corn in a treasure chest, Madeline made these super cool blueberry dyed cracked avovado devil eggs but I didn't get a picture of them :( but here is the recipe from Family Spice Note: we did not use wasabi
For decorations in the yard Madeline had the kids place skulls and bones in the planter box by the patio and it looked so cool!

Navy white and gold tablescape birthday dinner.

My niece recently turned 21 and we had a family dinner for her so I used my Navy and white striped fabric that I used for my daughters wedding that you might remember here. I just love being able to use and reuse things from my daughters weddings. More bang for the buck I say.

I brought out my gold goblets to bring a little sparkle to the table. Recently I took out my mirror in my dining room and hung up this giganctic chalkboard for a fun look. My daughter Emily made me the gold stirped vase for my birthday so I used that and added two others and palced them down the center of the table with fresh flowers.

Easy Small Wedding Reception Idea

I recently put together a little wedding reception for some friends.
It turned out really nice. After having done large weddings for my daughters...I think small and intimate might be the way to go. A lot less stress, money and time for sure!

Easy wedding cake with fresh flowers, Wedding cake idea, Small wedding reception ideas
I purchased the cake from our grocers bakery and added some fresh flowers to the top as well as a wreath of fresh mint from my garden all around the edge of the cake. Tip: make sure you don't use poisonus flowers like Hydrangeas...ask me how I know :( Yes this is cake #2

I made lemonade using Country Time powedered mix.
Tip- Add some fresh lemon slices and fresh raspberries to make it look pretty. I also added some colorful French Macaroons on a square white plate for color.

Flowers- I bought 2 bouquets of flowers from Costco and seperated them into 3 different bouqets two for the table and 1 for side table Plus I used some for the cake...more bang for the buck!
Tip: Always incorporate some fresh fruit on the table and place the fruit in a pretty bowl.
